Hyperchromatic Interstitium | Sarah Dexter
Hyperchromatic Interstitium is a celebration of the uncertain in a playground of texture and color. Through textile based forms, corporeal forms emerge as objects of fascination and contemplation, calling out for connection. These objects are a reminder of the precious hidden layers that can emerge with curiosity and the willingness to change.
Sarah Dexter is a fashion designer and multimedia artist based in Fairbanks, Alaska. After spending over a decade working in the medical field as an MRI technologist Sarah changed course to pursue her interest in fashion design. She graduated as the Valedictorian of the Fashion Institute of Technology, New York City, in 2021 with a BFA in Fashion Design. Upon returning to her hometown, Sarah began creating small-batch collections with a strong commitment to ethically made slow fashion. Sarah recently graduated with an MFA from the University of Alaska Fairbanks where she is expanded her artistic mediums. Through explorations in fiber arts and soft sculpture, Sarah examines growth as an unruly process of joy and damage, enacted through deconstructed corporeal forms. Sarah’s work has been recognized by such honors as the “Golden Shears Award” from Omaha Fashion Week and “Designer of the Year” from Alaska Fashion Week.
