Mt. Denali by j.Reto
“Mt. Denali by j.Reto” was originally created while I was an artist-in-residence at Cyrano’s Theatre Company in 2024. The fabric ‘painting’ was inspired by the iconic Sydney Laurence piece at the Anchorage Museum. I wanted to replicate the work using humble materials such as remnants, rags and thrift store clothing, in contrast to the majesty of the subject.
Originally intended as an ephemera piece, I have reworked the surface for this Annex exhibition and will rework it for future showings in 2026. Accompanying the work is a Mt. Denali diptych made especially for this show.
