APPLY FOR AN EXHIBITION
The International Gallery invites artists to submit proposals for solo exhibitions. Proposals for 2009 exhibitions are due October 1, 2008.
Exhibition proposals are judged primarily by the quality of the work, but also by a narrative in which artists explain what it is they are trying to learn or what they are trying to explore in the body of work they will prepare for the exhibition.
The Gallery accepts only new work that has not been previously exhibited elsewhere in the state. In this way, the Gallery plays a role in stimulating the creation of artwork.
The International Gallery does not focus on only traditional media, but is open to all art forms including installation and performance art and to new explorative media such as digital, video and other technological forms.

• Include up to 20 slides or photographs of your most recent work and a corresponding slide/image list. CDs and DVDs accepted. Proposals sent by email will not be considered. Please do not submit original artwork. Proposals will not be returned unless specified and unless a SASE is included with the proposal. Indicate in your narrative whether the images you are submitting are indicative of the work you would like to create for the exhibition or whether they are meant to illustrate the quality of your work and that you are proposing a new direction for the exhibition.
• Include a statement about what NEW work you would create for your exhibition at the IGCA and how the exhibition opportunity would help you develop your work.
• Look at the space diagram and tell us which space you're interested in (north, center, or south gallery – or Guest Room, if a smaller, intimate space is desired). Please also note that we have a video room available and that the Guest Room is available for rent or as a programmed exhibition space as well.
• Suggest a month and year you’d like to exhibit.
• Include a recent resume and/or bio.
• Include a SASE if you would like your slides/photos/CD/DVD returned. If you are accepted for an exhibition, we like to retain a few of the images for PR use.
• Please allow up to three months for a response to your proposal. Proposals are reviewed by a selection committee, which convenes approximately once a quarter. We are willing to work with you to accommodate your needs within our schedule and if interested in your work, we may call you to ask if the proposal may be adjusted regarding size or date.
