Kathryn Carovano’s acrylic and mixed media works use vibrant colors, patterns and abstracted images that often tell a story. The history and evolution of the paintings tend to be visible through the layers in the work. Her paintings have been exhibited in multiple juried and invitational shows as well as in solo exhibits at Carr-Gottstein Hall at Alaska Pacific University, the Bunnell Street Gallery in Homer and the IGCA. Recent work can be seen at the Experience Gallery in Halibut Cove.
Kathryn has made art throughout her life, taking courses at a range of institutions including the University of Alaska, Anchorage; The Art Student League, New York; Croydon Arts Council, London; and The Corcoran School of Art, Washington, DC. Prior to settling in Alaska in 2000 Kathryn worked for 15 years in international public health. She has a MA in International Relations from the Johns Hopkins University and a BA in Political Science from Middlebury College.
